(Every) WEDNESDAY | 7:45 PM | Townsend Park

Calling all feet! Last week's Casseroles was a joyful success. This week Occupy Albany calls on all able and amiable feet for participation as we continue to march in solidarity with the student movement in Quebec. This march is part of an international uprising that will continue every Wednesday in defense of affordable, accessible public education. Join us as we take the streets in opposition to austerity policies that divest from our schools and communities into the pockets of the 1%.

Gather at Townsend Park at 7:45pm where there will be a brief teach-in, beginning the march shortly after 8:00pm. Townsend Park is at the intersection of Central Avenue, Washington Avenue, and Henry Johnson Boulevard in Albany. See you there!

THURSDAY | June 28th | 12 NOON | West Capital Steps

Join Occupy Albany's "Healthcare For The 99%" Working Group as we respond to the Supreme Court's ruling on "Obamacare" with a call for a Single Payer Healthcare system in NY. Despite the fact that the number of uninsured and underinsured Americans has continued to grow, profits for big insurance companies have grown by 41% since 2010 alone. While so many are unable to get access to even the most basic of care, companies like Aetna, Wellpoint and UnitedHealthcare flourish more and more, using the backs of the American people to raise themselves up. Join Occupy Albany as we address the Supreme Court's ruling on Obamacare, and make a case for the single-payer system.

THURSDAY | June 28th | 4:30 PM | Federal Building

War is never "humanitarian." Stand up with peaceful protestors all across the country as we speak out against another unjustifiable war. During the period from June 23 through July 1,  the United National Antiwar Coalition (UNAC) has called for demonstrations, vigils and forums around the country to protest the growing threats of conflict
Agression against Syria and Iran has been escalating and alarming. Recently US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton warned Russia not to get in the way of US backed efforts to force out the government of President Assad.  The corporate media is making every effort to overwhelm the United States people with calls for another "Humanitarian War". The threat of a new war is tangible while US drone attacks expand attacks into the realm of anonymous war.  Meet us at the corner of N. Pearl St. and Clinton Ave. in Albany, NY and let the voice of peace and reason be heard!

FRIDAY | June 29th | 5 PM | NYS Capital Building

In response to last week's close range shooting of two Texas females (resulting in the death of one and critical condition of the other), Occupy Albany's LGBTQ Caucus is hosting a silent march and vigil. Though conclusions have yet to be firmly drawn, the circumstances of the violent attack have led many to believe that the 18 and 19 year old women were shot for being romantically involved. This type of crime, based solely on hate, ignorance, and bigotry, is completely unacceptable and requires a strong national response. Join us at the NY State Capital Building as we we march and hold vigil against senseless hate and persecution.
