VIA22, an open collective created in Montreal-Quebec, is sending a call to create a monthly process of global actions, the 22nd of each month, starting on October 22nd.

The idea is to collectively express the need that our marches and demonstrations become spaces for sharing knowledge about alternatives, and raise collective consciousness. We want to support and connect initiatives around the world and contribute to the dialogue between global and local. Strength comes from creativity and unity!

People from Mexico, Spain, Mozambique, Senegal, Belarus, Croatia, England, Japan, Greece, El Salvador and Chile are already in contact with us, but we need to spread the word widely!

We are looking for people around the world that could be interested in being part of the collective coordination of VIA22Global, and people that would like to help building the web site.

BREAKING NEWS: UK Threatens Ecuador Over Protection of WikiLeaks' Assange [VIDEO]

ANY ACT of AGGRESSION by the UK and 
the EMPIRE against the ECUADORIAN EMBASSY is an 
ACT of AGGRESSION against ECUADORIAN SOVERGEINGTY. 
 - SOLIDARITY!!! 

Julian Assange, Wikileaks figurehead has been fighting extradition from the UK on trumped up charges of an alleged sexual assault - though the accuser herself admits the sex was consensual and only became upset with Assange days later - after realizing she had contracted an STD. After speaking with another woman who also claims Assange gave her the same STD, both women decided to press charges. Assange has agreed to meet with any Swedish officials for the purpose of their investigation - in England, while under the protection of British Law. Sweden has continually turned down his offer and insists that he be physically imprisoned and forced back to Sweden. Whether the STD came from Assange or not, these local charges (stemming from an encounter in Sweden during one of Assanges speaking tours) have somehow become an international extradition case, leading no one to wonder why. 

Assange has upset very many of the World's Elite in the Military-Industrial Complex, Global Central Banking Schemes, and Corporate Communications & Information Systems ownership and control. He is the one willing to take the fall for exposing the lies of our governments - and our government's corporate-masters. 

Knowing that they would be taking on the weight of the world, Ecuador offered the safety of asylum to Julian Assange and the Ecuadorian Embassy is currently in a STAND-OFF with British officials who are threatening to invade the Embassy - effectively invading Ecuadorian Sovereignty. 

The only question - as is always the case - is whether the UK believes they can get away with their aggression toward other countries by selling it to their own people with a clever enough PR campaign. There is NO possible case that the UK, the US, or any of their corporate-profiteers can make, that would justify their invasion of the Ecuadorian Embassy - which only exists in the UK under the promise that such a thing could NEVER happen. 

This would be an enormous act of international aggression on the part of the UK. No PR campaign that they wage on their own people, could protect them from the ire of the World, should they act with such aggression.

While the Assange extradition has been playing out for about a year - this story of the Ecuadorian Embassy standing up to the Empire in order to do what's right - is just BREAKING.

The Empire is currently threatening to forcefully remove the Ecuadorian Embassy in order to forcefully remove Assange from Ecuador's protection. However this turns out - Ecuador is the Hero in this. Bless Ecuador for taking this Brave and very necessary stand!

#F29 Shut Down The Corporations: Leap Into Action! Reclaim Our Future!

This Wednesday, Occupiers in New York, Oakland, Mexico City, and over 80 other cities will take part in a coordinated National Day of Action to Shut Down the Corporations. Occupations have been preparing a variety of decentralized actions in response to Occupy Portland's call to target the American Legislative Exchange Council:

We specifically call on people to target corporations that are members of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). The biggest corporations in America, like ExxonMobil, Bank of America, BP, Monsanto, Pfizer, and Wal-Mart use ALEC to buy off legislators and craft legislation that serves only the interests of corporations and not people. They then duplicate and spread this corporate legislation in Washington, D.C. and in state legislatures across the country. The anti-labor legislation in Wisconsin and the racist bill SB 1070 in Arizona are two recent and destructive examples of what corporations use ALEC to do.

Simultaneously, European trade unions have declared Feb. 29th a European Day of Action against austerity, following massive demonstrations against budget cuts in Greece, Spain, Belgium, and elsewhere. Decentralized actions in all 27 European Union nations and beyond will be "sending a clear message to the EU leaders: this imposed austerity is going to plunge Europe into a recession!"

The effects of the financial, economic and social crisis have reached unbearable levels in several countries. Faced with the extreme seriousness of the situation, European leaders are making the race for austerity their priority response. The crisis serves as a ready-made pretext to attack the European social model, justify cuts in wages and public services, weaken social protection, make the labour market hyperflexible, and attack trade union rights.

Thus, at a time when the European summit has to adopt a treaty plunging Europe into recession and job insecurity for the long haul, the European trade unions are saying “enough is enough” and putting employment, recovery, social justice and solidarity at the forefront of the discussions.

EMERGENCY CALL TO ACTION:

Occupy Ithaca has just been denied the permit that their Mayor requested them to apply for.
Rumors point to eviction, soon.

The M.O. of cities around the country who act to evict,
such as recently seen at Occupy LA and reaffirmed at
Occupy Poughkeepsie here in New York, is to:
1.) Give word of an impending eviction
2.) Wait a while, until the overwhelming support of The People diminishes
3.) Strike in the middle of the night when most people are unavailable to show up in large numbers

Our most effective strategy:
1.) Keep cameras (with lights) charged and ready at all times
2.) Coordinate large numbers of supporters to be alerted via a mass-text for emergency response to the park (remember, it will likely come late at night - when cowards strike)

Call on nearby groups (such as Occupy Binghamton, Occupy Cortland, Occupy Syracuse - as it relates to Occupy Ithaca's impending situation) who can each use mass-texts locally in order to coordinate themselves as emergency responders.

Remember - OUR GREATEST WEAPON AGAINST OPPRESSORS IS THEIR OWN ACTIONS.
We need only witnesses. We need only to capture on video, the actions of these cowardly attackers, who are clearly too afraid and ashamed to perform these acts in the light of day.

They will continue to pick us off one by one if we let them.

WE MUST UNITE.

To Albany Mayor Jennings:

We protest your decision to disband the Occupy Albany camp site by December 22.

Occupy Albany and the other occupations around the country have gained wide support because of their message, which is that the 1% is running Wall Street and the country for their own interests while the other 99% are being hurt by these policies.

It is we, the 99%, who bailed out the banks that caused the
economic crisis in the first place. And it is we, the 99%, who are now being asked to sacrifice yet more. The occupations include people who have lost homes, have huge college debts and no job or can not afford college at all. State workers who are threatened with layoffs and who are having austerity contracts rammed down their throats have joined us in Albany, as have Verizon workers and others who are under attack.

The order for us to abandon our occupation site is a direct attack on our civil liberties. The occupation has served as a much-needed ongoing protest to the policies of the 1%, which you are now attempting to stop. We demand that you allow this public space for our continued peaceful protest.

Occupy Amsterdam Police Raid on 8 December 2011
Somewhere around 13:00 NL time Occupy Amsterdam was raided by the local Police and Military Police.

Tents and even medical supplies like for example an arm crutch have been confiscated and removed.

Cleaning vans of the city have been deployed just after the removal of the tents to clean up the pavement.
Occupy Amsterdam has only the big army tent, media tent and the kitchen still standing on beursplein 5.

Elsewhere in the Netherlands, Occupy Arnhem was evicted today, while occupations in the Hague, Rotterdam, Eindhoven, Utrecht, and other Dutch cities continue. Occupy Wall Street stands in solidarity with occupiers across the Netherlands, Europe, and the world. We are truly a global movement. From Tunisia to Russia, 2011 has been a year of global uprising unparalleled in modern history. As we enter 2012, we will continue to strengthen the bonds of solidarity that bind the global 99%, because global capitalism and and the cannibal oligarchies that do its bidding can only effectively be challenged by global action. Together, we are the world's only true superpower.

Mayor Bloomberg's Campaign of Terror & Distraction

You may remember that last week, New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg made the sudden announcement of an emergency press conference on the subject of "terror".  What you may not know is that to people who work inside the news media and in television broadcasting, the rare event of a sudden Sunday evening press conference with top officials is either an actual emergency, or the mark of someone desperately trying to get ahead of the 'weekly news cycle' - perhaps in order to bury one story with an even more sensational one. 

Leading up to last weekend, both Mayor Bloomberg and the NYPD had earned plenty of negative attention that they were desperate to divert the public away from. Between the regular reports of NYPD brutality being inflicted on the peaceful protesters in lower Manhattan and the middle of the night NYPD assault on the Occupy encampment in Liberty (Zuccotti) Park just earlier in the week - which involved the NYPD securing the ground and airspace from all news media in apparent efforts to disallow any evidence of their assault on the protesters and the illegal destruction of their property - as well as their blatant contempt for Judge Lucy Billings' temporary restraining order against the City and the NYPD the next morning - it was going to take a serious hijacking of the media's attention in order to redirect the public's focus.

While holding a very rare and in this case, quite unnecessary Sunday evening press conference on the subject of a supposed "terror" suspect who was both already in custody and considered by the FBI to be no legitimate threat, the Mayor and Police Commissioner - who recently found themselves in hot water over a slew of  civil rights violations against both protesters and journalists attempting to report on the city's aggressive suppression of the Occupy protests - desperately pushed all of their chips into the center of the table and apparently hoped to bluff the public into fear-based loyalty, while at the same time distracting us from their recent crimes against democracy.

Within 90 seconds of the start of the press conference, a video was shown of a car blowing up. That video was created by the NYPD. So was the bomb used in the video. Why is the NYPD assembling bombs and video taping them blowing up cars? Why was there a theatrical "model" bomb at the press conference? If they arrested the suspect just after he was "drilling holes" in preparation for a bomb, as they said, then he had no completed bomb at the time of his arrest. This begs the repeat of the question:

Why is the NYPD producing shock and awe propaganda videos of cars blowing up, when their suspect did not even have a completed test bomb?! 

If this were a legitimate legal case, wouldn't it be inappropriate for these officials to produce propaganda like this against their suspect and show it to the news media and general public before that suspect even has a day in court to be officially charged? Wouldn't it be inappropriate for city officials to poison the potential jury pool by making and publicizing this such propaganda? Wouldn't this kind of conduct hurt the prosecutors case against the suspect, if in fact it were a legitimate case? If they are willing to threaten the stability of this such case once it is actually tried in a court of law, with these theatrical props and unnecessary, but visually frightening video presentations - what might be the real motive behind these presentations to the public? Does the suggestion of a terrorist, combined with the video of an explosion, frighten you?

Why would city officials show us their own video of an exploding car that is in no way directly connected to their suspect?

Bloomberg stated during the press conference that the suspect, "was not part of a larger conspiracy." He also referred to the suspect several times as a "lone wolf" as he pleaded his case about this supposed solo-terror-threat. The police commissioner repeated this term more than once as well. So, why the concerted branding of, and emphasis on a "lone wolf" aspect of this supposed suspect? One reason might be that the City and the NYPD want to give the clear impression that there is no need for any outside entities - FBI or otherwise - to further investigate their "terror threat" allegations.

In any event, within 48 hours of the press conference, some interesting points came to light.

Not only did the FBI not consider the suspect to be a credible threat, but they apparently also considered the NYPD's tactics in dealing with him, to be dangerously close to entrapment.

More than 50% of the general public who have commented on the Billionaire Mayor, Mike Bloomberg's facebook post announcing this arrest, have shown up to display their lack of faith in the honesty of Bloomberg's terroristic press conference. This figure holds strong even though it appears that many of the posts have somehow been censored/removed. This is reassuring that the fear-mongering tactics of the Bush era are still no longer welcome among the majority - or at least the majority of those who feel obliged to speak their minds on such matters.

Even the mainstream media questioned the timing of this sudden and rare Sunday evening announcement.

However Bloomberg aims to distract the public, or to scare us back into submission and blind obedience - the awakening of the world around him cannot be stopped. His pathetic attempt at playing the terror-card is as transparent now as it was initially (see our coverage PRE & POST press conference). His crimes against The People of New York City, the Occupy Movement, and democracy itself, are on record. He cannot wash away what he has done - and we will not forget.

Having ignored The People of New York City twice voting to keep their mayoral term limits in place and skirting their wishes by throwing his monied-weight around to stay in power, we already knew that Billionaire Mayor Mike Bloomberg is a tyrant. Now we know that he is a terrorist too.

Mayor Bloomberg, this is your legacy.

Your fortune may have been just enough to keep you in power after you had worn out your welcome in New York City, but every single penny of your enormous empire cannot save you from your place in history.

Our legacy will be to create a better world; one without the likes of criminal oligarchs like you.

On Thursday November 17th, the two month anniversary of the Occupy Wall Street movement, we call upon the 99% to participate in a national day of direct action and celebration!

New York City
BREAKFAST: Shut Down Wall Street - 7:00 a.m.

Enough of this economy that exploits and divides us. It's time we put an end to Wall Street's reign of terror and begin building an economy that works for all. We will gather in Liberty Square at 7:00 a.m., before the ring of the Trading Floor Bell, to prepare to confront Wall Street with the stories of people on the frontlines of economic injustice. There, before the Stock Exchange, we will exchange stories rather than stocks.

LUNCH: Occupy The Subways - 3:00 p.m.
We will start by Occupying Our Blocks! Then throughout the five boroughs, we will gather at 16 central subway hubs and take our own stories to the trains, using the "People's Mic".

DINNER: Take The Square - 5:00 p.m.At 5 pm, tens of thousands of people will gather at Foley Square (just across from City Hall) in solidarity with laborers demanding jobs to rebuild this country's infrastructure and economy. A gospel choir and a marching band will also be performing.

Afterwards we will march to our bridges. Let's make it as musical a march as possible - bring your songs, your voice, your spirit! Our "Musical" on the bridge will culminate in a festival of light as we mark the two-month anniversary of the #occupy movement, and our commitment to shining light into our broken economic and political system.

Resist austerity. Rebuild the economy. Reclaim our democracy.
